Our diploma program offers thorough in-person and online supervised instruction in massage theory and practice, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology, ethics and business marketing. A supervised student massage clinic helps to increase skill and confidence in client history and assessment, massage and bodywork techniques, and creating treatment plans.
Curriculum Anatomy and Physiology Courses 225 Hours Anatomy and Physiology 155 Hours This course covers the structure and function of the systems of the human body using textbooks, palpation of muscles and bones, skeletal models, power point presentations, video, and lecture. The massage student will learn origin, insertion, action and innervation of muscles and muscle groups to promote a deeper understanding of movement, and restriction of movement, as pertaining to the human body. Pathology 40 Hours This course covers most diseases and dysfunctions of the systems of the human body, indications and contraindications of these diseases and dysfunctions. Kinesiology 30 Hours This course covers the study of human movement, which melds together aspects from three other sciences: anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics. Massage Theory and Practice Courses 400 Hours Massage Theory and Practice 281 Our primary class curriculum covers assessment, body mechanics, and draping, along with a broad base of massage therapy and bodywork modalities including Swedish Massage, Deep Muscle Massage, Muscle Energy Techniques (PNF), Trigger Point Therapy, Energy Meridian Pathways, Acupressure Points, Hydrotherapy, Reflexology, Sports, Geriatric, Pre-Natal and Infant Massage. Students practice newly acquired skills by giving and receiving massage in the classroom. Student Massage Clinics 85 Hours Supervised, appointment-based massages for the public to increase each student’s level of skill and confidence in assessment, massage therapy and bodywork modalities and creating treatment plans. Business Marketing 18 Hours Textbooks, personal experience discussions, and professional speakers will provide the massage student with information to make informed decisions about career choices in massage therapy. Ethics and Professionalism 16 Hours Our course provides the massage student with an understanding of legal guidelines and provides an ethical structure necessary for massage therapists. This class provides information to equip each student with knowledge and skills to provide massage therapy services in a responsible and appropriate manner.
