The program combines rigorous online coursework with supervised experiential learning in various settings, including clinical, community, and food service environments. Students can choose between two tracks: In-Residence Track: Ideal for those living near IUP's main campus, with field placements arranged by the program director. Distance Track: Designed for students residing outside the local area (excluding California), requiring students to secure their own field placements.
The program comprises 63 credits, including: Core Nutrition Science Courses: FDNT 564 - Food and Nutrition Research Methods FDNT 645 - Proteins, Carbohydrates, and Fats FDNT 646 - Vitamins and Minerals FDNT 647 - Nutrition and Human Performance Supervised Experiential Learning: A minimum of 1,208 hours in clinical, community, and food service settings. Practicum-based courses integrated with online academic coursework.
