In this certificate program, you`ll explore the many meditation techniques that can be used to support the mind-body connection and promote healing, health, and wellness. Designed for health professionals, nurses, and general consumers, this program will guide you as you discover how the practice of meditation can be used to increase mindfulness, reduce stress, deal with pain and illness, and support overall well-being. Certificate in Mindfulness (8 contact hours) The practice of mindful living reduces stress and improves virtually every area of life, including personal and professional relationships, and brain health and function. It supports the expansion of compassion, wisdom, and human potential in many areas. In this certificate program, you`ll examine the many benefits of mindfulness for both one`s personal and professional life, and build the foundation for a career in health and wellness coaching. The program explores a variety of widely-recognized healing interventions that incorporate mindfulness, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. Certificate in Stress Management (14 contact hours) Stress is at epidemic levels in the world today. It affects every aspect of the body, mind, and spirit, resulting in a wide range of symptoms, from headaches or stomach ailments to heart disease and death. Currently, as many as 90% of all visits to health-care providers in the United States are considered stress-related. In this certificate program, you`ll explore the physiological, social, and psychological impacts of stress; examine the relationship between stress and health, nutrition, and physical activity; identify causes and health effects of workplace stress; and explore modalities to reduce and manage stress.
